The Stave Game

Equipment

A Scout Stave or similar for each player

Game Description

The players stand in a circle, facing inwards, about an arms length away from each other. Each player holds a Scout stave or garden cane in front of him/her.

The Leader stands outside the circle and proceeds to "tell a story". At each mention of the words "right" or "left", the player must let go of his/her stave, and step in the apropriate direction to catch the stave released by the next door player before it hits the ground.

If the stave falls before the player can catch it, the player who missed is out. The game ends when there is only one player left.

The game is useful for developing listening skills and reactions.

Although a maximum of 100 players is shown, the limit can be more, as long as you have the equipment and voice to support it.

Variants:

You can use numbers, or any word you like to mean left or right.

The story can be left out and left or right called as appropiate.
