Bancroft's Scoutmaster is thanking the public for supporting his troop and condemning
the actions of three teens whom police say posed as Scouts to defraud senior citizens.

Scoutmaster Steve Bobrowicz of the 1st Bancroft Scouts called the incident
"pretty upsetting."

"We certainly wouldn't be soliciting in seniors' buildings for anything like that,"
he said in an interview.

"I'm pretty shocked that it would happen," he said. However, Bobrowicz noted, "it's not
unheard of."

Constable Brian Goodwin, the Bancroft OPP officer who investigated the alleged fraud,
said all the incidents happened on the afternoon of Monday, December 30.

"Three youths attended the Riverside Chateau, the R.J. Brooks Living Centre, and other
Bancroft residences soliciting for money for Scouts Canada," Goodwin said.
