Wood Badge Staff Lullaby

(Tune:A tour-a Lour-a Louri)

One late night at Gilwell,
A day or so ago,
I heard a staffer moaning
On his hand-held telephone.
His words, they had no meaning
His voice was full of fear
The echo of his screaming
Was ringing in my ears.

A tour at good old Gilwell,
On Wood Badge staff am I.
The song that I am singing
Is a staffers lullaby.

As Quartmaster, I's worried
My assistant, he stood near,
Together we could see it
As the end of our career.
We huddled in the kitchen,
We then paced to and fro,
In great anticipation to hear
The voice on the cellu-lar.

A tour at good old Gilwell,
On Wood Badge staff am I.
The song that I am singing
Is a staffers lullaby.

Then within the garble,
At last the story's told,
The reason for the screaming,
Was the water had turned cold!

A tour at good old Gilwell,
On Wood Badge staff am I.
The song that I am singing
Is a staffers lullaby.
