Scouts Canada Mission Statement
November 2000
Here is the "New" Mission Statement adopted by SC at the latest General Meeting:
"To contribute to the education of young people, through a value system
based on the Scout Promise and Law, to help build a better world where
people are self fulfilled as individuals and play a constructive role in
society."
As opposed to the old:
"To contribute to the development of young people in achieving their full
physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potential as individuals,
as responsible citizens and as members of their local, national and
international communities through the application of our Principles and Practices."
For an understanding of the Principles and Practices, see Liam's article at: ScoutDocs
The WOSM has put out a document on Understanding the new Mission Statement
(This new Mission Statement does put more emphasis on the Promise and Law, which in itself is good, unless the aim is to change the Promise and Law in the near future.)
